Hmm, when my grandson built me up a new computer recently, he is right into computers and studying IT at Uni. He said "what operating system do you want?"

I said "get the latest, Windows 8". He said "not recommended, I suggest Windows 7, 64 bit" and that's what I'm running with no problems.

I have upgraded from Vista and noticed Windows 7 is more stable, but then again my computer needs are pretty basic.

I remember bringing home a brand new box of Windows 1.
My favorite version that ran on DOS was 3.11. I ran it on Novell DOS 7.
    Favorite Windows was NT4.

I recently found a set of floppies.... for Windows 3.1.1.:eek

At least it didn't mind my normal Power-Down method... switch it off at the power point !

Actually, I will amend my above post, back in 1982 I worked as a Laboratory Manager in a photofinishing laboratory and we used a Kodak 3510 printer to print photo's from customers negatives.

It used 5.25" floppies. Very high tech then, I spent two weeks at Kodak in Sydney learning all about the 3510 before our lab installed it. The printer could certainly knock out the prints at a rapid rate, can't remember the print rate but it was impressive. Much faster than the Kodak 2620 printer it replaced.
