Puma ECU and inertia switch, no start

    Hey Folks
As mentioned before I have a business on an Island in Vanuatu and have inherited a 2010 130 Puma. Now I need to know if I can do a re boot or hard reset of the ECU and can some one tell me the location of the inertia switch. I have fuel primed up to the injectors but it will crank but not go.

Any help or ideas would be great. We do have dodgy internet workshop manual but its not much good.

    Regards
    Justin

    Hi Justin,

I need some More info, IE what caused the no start issue? Are the remote key/s functioning? Is the dash LED etc illuminated? I have a suspicion it has an issue with the alarm immobiliser ECU, tropical environment etc and moisture don't fare too well. It is the same as the earlier 110, 10AS Lucas alarm unit and yes they do have issues with moisture etc.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

Hey JC long time between drinks mate.

Ok no remote on key fitted. Will check dash LED tomorrow. Local Ni van mechanic was playing with it after the Island got a heap of fuel delivered with more water than diesel in it. Has has all new filter, mount and Volume control valve fitted. This is a l/h drive delivered vehicle 2010 model. What colour would the LED be???

    Thanks
    Justin

Would reckon if there is no "remote" it will not start.

The remote is needed to tell the ecu that it has the correct key and driver.

The remote locking fob contains the "radio/wireless" information that the ECU needs and must be hanging adjacent to to steering lock. Somewhere in the vicinity is a sensing coil that reads the "remote" No remote no start!

    Cheers

Maybe if you can get it flatbeded to a dealer they can put it in the computer and turn the immobiliser off for you

I have to agree with Rick that if there is no remote its possibly you won't get a start

Sorry Dullbird, not having a go at you, but I laughed just a little when I read that statement.

His nearest "Landrover dealership" or someone that has specialised in land rovers is approximately 123 nautical miles or 227 kilometres away (or two islands).....
Not much infrastructure or support on Tanna island for "new elctrickery Land rovers"......

    Anyways, DRanged,
I think your closest technical support may be,

    Pacific Autronics,
PO Box 1141, Father Walter, Lini Highway Port Villa
    Santo Vanuatu
    Phone: +678 27800

But what technical capacity or capability they may have for the newer Landrover Defenders, I do not know.

    Regards,
    Mike.

Got the manual in the 'glove box'? Have a look for the EKA code - either in the manual or on a paper card somewhere in the truck - I think you should be able to get the truck started with that code and the key?
