I never saw the sense in a separate Australian Standard for helmets, when they could have chosen from a few already well-established standards from around the world. It ends up meaning that Australian distributors of helmets exactly the same as those sold elsewhere in the world can have a different sticker put on them, and charge twice as much.

The lane filtering proposal (whilst I support it with appropriate conditions applied) is going to cause headaches, the first time it's tested in court or with the insurance companies.

Looks like this new law is just supporting what most riders already do. I do not agree with it at all. It is so common in fact almost mandatory for riders to ride up the middle of 2 lane traffic to get to the front of the lights. SO much they do it in slow moving traffic.

IMO there are road rules, if a car does some of these things they would be causeing all sorts of grief. Just because a rider can fit up the inside of a car or between 2 of them doesnt make it ok.

But hey, I guess its just us car drivers that never look and see those poor riders doing the right thing every time there is one knocked off.

While im on my soap box, , how is it you can legally buy a scooter and register it for road use and it will only do 70 km/h max. There are plenty of 80km/h roads on the GC and these things cant keep up with traffic, yet come to a set of lights and guess what, yep straight up the guts and to the front of the que...
