Discovery 4 Side Steps - Stainless Steel versions any good?

    Hi,

My pregnant wife can no longer get into my Discovery 4 so want to install some side steps. I note there are really two types - the larger OEM style ones, or Stainless steel?

Frankly I love the look of the stainless steel ones - but they seem about the same price - so I'm questioning whether they are any good? Specifically are they big enough? I'm also dubious, as can't seem to find any photo's of them on the car?

Has anyone purchased or fitted these steps please?

    Rob

They're not bad value. They would help access. However I would like tube mounting brackets so the side steps also were a rock slider. It might be a feature you don't want/need.

Also I don't know if rock slider/side steps are available for a D4.

I remember looking at side steps when we bought our D4 last November. Yes there are rock slider/side steps available (sorry can't remember where). I opted for the LRA ones precisely because they are a good width/depth. My wife is disabled and has trouble getting into cars and she found these a tremendous help along with access height. I understand that your need may be short term so to speak but unless you're going to do some 4wd action that will hit the side steps the LRA ones are ok. What I read when looking was that they are not up to heavy work in the bush. I also saw aftermarket copies around that were cheaper than LRA ones but I wanted them on at delivery so paid the extra. They are not hard to fit and basically just bolt on to existing holes.
