Wheel alignment height

Hi,
Just wandering at what height my new D4 should be set when you get a wheel alignment.
I guess it is the normal drive heigh but want to confirm.

Are most places aware of this or do you have to remind them.

It is a My 14 so it does not automatically drop down.

There are a number of posts on this subject. "Officially", the vehicle is supposed to be put in "tight tolerance mode" which can only be done at the dealer or by someone who has the right equipment. I would very much doubt if your tyre place was able to do this or whether that are even aware of it.

There are a number on this forum that use other methods and seem to achieve a good result as well. Suggest you use the "google search" function at the bottom of the page, assuming you are on a full size web browser.

Having had many wheel alignments on my D3 (suspension repairs/maintenance etc), I can say that it needs to be in Tight Tolerance Mode and that some people are good at it, some are not ... one guy who has done mine gets it right but not feeling right ; another gets it feeling right but with the wheel not centre and then returns the wheel to centre not in tight tolerance mode ... voodoo to me ... but he's done it that way twice and it feels great / tyres wear evenly ... so good luck !

I got mine from lrdirect.com, good service those guys, could probably get a better price somewhere else, but ordered on a Friday arrived Monday (!!). I think it cost about 400 bucks. I have the old / original model (you can now get a bluetooth version that lets you interact with the car via your iphone / (some) android phones).

Very useful device if you like to play with your D3 - best mod (for me) is clock in dash - mine is an 05 where the clock is only on the head unit so very happy to have it in the dash where I can actually read it (sad I know) !

Check "discotwinturbo's" posts, I think I read that he takes out the EAS relay before he gets the wheel alignment done, which stops it from lowering.

G'day Richard,

My first wheel alignment was done with ttr from my dealer, using my guy for the alignment. He showed me all measurements.

Next time, no ttr. I told my tyre guy that I read that if I remove the yellow 25amp fuse (third down from the front on the passenger side), then align. He reckoned he could do it without. He did the alignment. Went around the block, back on the aligner and all out.

So...he then agreed to try my way. I then fired up the D4, let it level, popped the bonnet and had him remove the fuse as above, a moment before I turned it off. Alignment done. Fuse put back in, went around the block, back on the aligner and all good....exactly the same.

Factory tyres have now done 50k (car has done 65k....15k on touring tyres), still wearing evenly and still atleast 15-20k left.

Literally a one minute job at each alignment (done everyone 10k).

Do this at normal height.

Works for me, and with much less time involved.

Hi
I have a MY14 D4 and it will stay in normal height even if I turn the car off.
I have to manually move it to the lower height.

So does this mean I would not have to pull any fuses or have I just missed something.
