Your brake light switch may need adjustment.
I'm sure in the past if I tried to start the D4 without my foot on the brake I would get a warning on the screen and it wouldn't start. Now I seem to be able to start the car without my foot on the brake. Anyone else come across this? With a 4 year old daughter who knows where the start/stop button is, it's a bit of a worry.

Maybe your brake switch has an issue, mine definitely will not start without putting a foot on the brake pedal.
i get the message on the dash,as you used to do.

Same here, definitely need brake pushed to start. Whilst I appreciate the concern about the young child, I think I would rather be able to start the car than not, which may have been the alternative with potentially some sort of switch problem.
Can you move the transmission out of PARK without using the brake pedal?
In PARK with the engine running are the brake lights on? (No foot on the brake)

SubscriberMine will start without a foot on the brake, but only if you persist. It certainly won't start immediately. I doubt it is a safety issue. The vehicle is still in Park and the handbrake is on automatically. It's not going anywhere. Checked today. My mistake. Definitely won't start without a foot on the brake pedal.

The car SHOULD NOT START without your foot on the brake pedal, ever! You have a problem.
Pushing Start without the foot on the brake pedal is meant to be used for bringing on aux power for using radio, phone, windows, etc without having the engine running.
Further, once aux power is on, you can then put the foot on the brake pedal and shift the transmission out of Park into Neutral, for example, to allow the car to be towed!
But, the engine should never start.
