SupporterI am thinking of installing a 12v socket (cigarette lighter) to my Perentie. I've noticed a couple of pin sockets in the dashboard above the gear stick. Can I simply connect the socket to this?
Electrics is certainly not my forte, I tend to leave stuff that can hurt / kill you alone, so sorry if I'm being particularly thick

If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
If you mean the red and black electrical connectors on the side of the block containing the dimmer switch, yes.
I take it you mean to replace the existing connectors with a cig lighter? If so they are connected by bullet connectors which will have to be replaced with spade connectors. The cigarette lighter I used was rated at 15A so I changed the fuse to suit (up from the 10A existing - it's in an inline holder just behind the sockets).
The cig lighter will be live even when the ignition is off, so don't go leaving things plugged in.
The usual precaution applies; disconnect the battery.
Thanks for pointing out the connectors
