Had the Old Man Emu shock and spring kit installed on the county a couple of weeks ago. Haven't had a chance to take it off road yet but on-road performance has been great.



According to the specs, the package only adds a 30mm lift but the original springs and sagged significantly, so the effect is of an even greater ride-height increase.



Now I'm starting to wonder if cranked trailing arms should be added to the mix. How does everyone feel about the amount of bend being put on the recently replaced trailing arm bushes?



I'm also looking at replacing the A-Frame ball-joint on Bee-utey's advice. The Maxi-Drive part can be had for a whisker over $200, delivered. People on here seem to be happy with that part.

Any thoughts from older and wiser heads appreciated.

Those trailing arm to chassis bushes are horrible. What brand are they?

You need to swap them for these from Super-Pro, which have a groove to allow more flex. This is especially important with a lift.

EDIT - also the fitters seem to have left out at least 1 spring washer

Actually unless you are building a (mainly) offroad vehicle I would advise against it as they are not legal for road use in AU.

Looks like a Nyloc that usually don`t require spring washers but glasses could do with a polish

Thanks all. I had to order new trailing arm bushes sight-unseen as it seems nobody in SA keeps them on the shelves. The rubber ones that had been on there were wrecked so replacements were needed ASAP.

I found the super-pro ones online and even got a price through Burson but ended up going with the ones pictured from BritPart/Sovereign Automotive at Kent Town.

Oh well, when these ones go squish, I know what to replace them with

I have heard that rose joints are illegal and a bit more harsh to boot. Not a sensible option in this case. Off-road time is a sadly low proportion of what the County gets used for. Thanks for the suggestion, though

As far as I can tell, the only components that have a complete set of matching bolts are the ones that have never been replaced or "fixed" by my dad. I think that equates to three doors, the transfer case and the front, passenger seat
