Our sbs news thinks that soccer is a top news story it belongs in sport. That's when I turn off. So sport is more important than other world news. Also why can't they have subtitles for the very extensive news services from across the world. It is all good and well to have this service but if we can't understand it how can we understand other opinions

Other channels do the same thing so we record the news, then fast forward through the sport and adverts. It cuts a 1 hour news programme down to less than 20 minutes.

Just as bad as the other channels that make out some other show on their channel(The Voice, X Factor etc) is news. IT ISN'T!

So, the world cup is not important to you, that is fair and your absolute right, but it isto a lot. So you would rather see car accidents, violent assaults, more on the middle east crisis first??? I for one think it is actually good to see a news story up front instead of violence and death straight up. Maybe you would like the finance report first. I suppose you feel the same about Olympic sports, NRL and AFL as well. It is SBS and for most ethnic or even English background people soccer is important.

For an awful lot of people especially from third world countries,soccer,sorry,FOOTBALL,is about all they have!SBS don't have subtitles because it is aimed at ethnic minorities,not aussies.

But the strange thing, as the other channels get worse and their Australian content is limited to rubbish like Dancing With The Stars etc, more Aussies turn to SBS, a lot isn't specifically ethnic.

Yes, I guess that the Football world cup is irrelevant, it is only followed by just over a billion people so it does not deserve to be in the news and occupying time that can be dedicated to AFL, rugby or cricket

I was not criticizing sbs news as such but there is a segment in the news called sports that is were sport belongs. I can then turn off when it comes up.
