How to mount ARB compressor in D3 2nd battery box?

Hi all. I've got an ARB CKMA12, and want to mount it in the drivers side battery box in my '09 D3. It looks like there is a plastic base on the bottom of the box. Has anyone mounted their comp here, and if so how did you anchor it? Is the box removable to access the metal underneath? I don't want to drill into anything unseen underneath, or break the plastic bottom...

    Thanks
    Regards, Will

Why not fit it in front of the main battery?
That way in the future when you decide to fit a second battery you wont have to move the compressor.

If you still want to fit the compressor in the battery box, why not use the existing battery tie down fixing points?

Yep - save your second battery box for just that ... a second battery... the compressor fits just fine in front of the main battery.
    cheers

Have been advised to stick the compressor in the battery box out of the elements, the box is a lot cleaner than the area in front of the battery. And the second battery can easily sit in front of the main one. Less cabling distance too...

The D3 / D4 best dual battery setup is the Traxide made by Tim here on the forum, it is designed to fit in the second battery box and the kit is a perfect almost factory standard install.

Why you would want to have to try and squeeze the battery and the isolator in front of the standard one bemuses me, apart from if you where fitting a third battery with the second already in the battery box.

Dust has not been an issue with my ARB compressor in front of the main battery and yes shorter wiring just like you mentioned!

I don't think that is actually correct, at least for the D4. My Traxide setup came with all parts to place the secondary battery in front of the primary unit. Given the amount of work required to move electronic and hydraulic parts out of the way I don't think the spot in front of the driver is the most logical spot on the D4. D3 may be different.

D3 has a bit less room in front of the main battery than the D4.

I've had my ARB compressor mounted to the 110 firewall without any problem. It doesn't get exposed to the elements. I wouldn't be concerned about it being open in the engine bay.

I had the whole thing fitted at "Ritters" - they supplied the bracket - they have them specially made for the purpose - the compressor works well and is easy to access from that position. Good luck with your fitting...
    cheers
