    Armrest/jesus bar on 1967 2a

I've been getting a bit of grief from passengers that there's nothing to hold on to on the left side of the cabin. Having decided it can't have anything to do with my driving style, I began investigating what I can install for a bit of passenger self-security. Maybe roof grab handles from a disco? - na too flimsy. Door pull handles look good, but weird mount face made it hard to place in the 2a without some fancy bracketry. 75 LC dash mounted Jesus bar looked like it may have to do...... Nooooooo...... Then I spotted this:

Anyone else installed such a device?

I've got a spare step/handle from the rear crossmember of another 109 and it'll look the piece bolted to the passenger side dash, but I'm worried about extending hard steel any further toward the passenger than it needs to be. Wouldn't be nice to face plant. I know its not good already, but why make it worse.

I put rivnuts into the door frame on my defender for a Jesus handle and bolted a defender grab handle to them. Worked a treat according to SWMBO.

What about bolting it below the horizontal part of the dash so that it hangs down into the glovebox without projecting towards the passenger? Maybe more likely to break fingers, I guess - but if you could space it out a little it might work.
