    Defender and defender extreme difference

    Gday All,

I have been trying to work out what the difference ( if any ) there is between the TD5 and the TD5 extreme.

I have done some reading but other than it looks like air con is there any major difference.

    Many Thanks

    Cheers Ean

    Hi Ean
    some of the differences to my knowledge were;
    ABS/Traction Control
    Electric front windows
    Boost Alloy wheels
    Factory bullbar and towbar

I think central locking was usually activated as well.
    Paint job and decals also.

That's off the top of my head.
    Mine is an 02 extreme.

    Cheers,
    Paul.

I thought it was just a sticker that differentiated them.

Not sure, I've got a 110 wagon 2002 extreme, factory ABS, TC, and air with alloy wheels, blue paint, LR bullbar. Power front windows, central locking.
Maybe if a few put up their year, model and factory specs it would show the differences?

One bloke had an earlier defender(not extreme) td5 , 99 or 2000 110 wagon with no ABS or TC, and steel wheels. But manufacturers change model specs at a whim so best compare same years.

I have an 2000 Xtreme and there are only a few minor differences off the floor. As far as I know the Xtreme was an Australian promotion only.
    Air con standard
Alloy wheels - NOT Boost but standard LR that were also an option on standard.
TC/ABS standard - also available on standard as an option.
LR Tow Bar and Bull bar I believe as standard.
Metallic paint I think as well with a couple of stickers.
Extra holes for water to get in and cats to get out.

Electric Windows on front was not standard in all, but may have become in later models?? Not on 99-01
Central locking fitted on later models?? Not on 99-01

Tomb Raider edition came out with all above in grey plus
    Elec windows,
    Updated centre dash
    roof rack
    Different wheels
    side steps

    I have a 1999 MY Xtreme.
The Xtreme was an Australian promotion only and the AC that I have was fitted locally and differs slightly from the UK type fitted. I believe that it is basically a UK County Station Wagon.
Alloy wheels - Deep Dish I think they are called
    TC/ABS as standard.
LR Bull bar as standard (Could have been TJM or ARB depending on dealer location), tow pack was an option as was a snorkel.
Metallic paint was standard but strangely the "Xtream stickers were an option.
Electric Windows and central locking are not fitted to my MY.

    Cheers

    Nino.

The Bull Bar was a Land Rover item not an AEB or TJM yhough they are almost identical to the ARB except the indicator slots are slightly different. Could have been made for LR by ARB but both ARB and LR deny this.
