    Something interesting, but controversial

Now, please don't get on your high horses, jump up & down, without listening to this. No matter what you think of Latham, this is really interesting. And not directed at any side of politics, essentially. Bob [Mods, please listen to it before zapping it with the Mod laser, Bob

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

You didn't even give it a chance. I would have thought a mature attitude would prevail. Obviously not. Until the time comes, when discussions of this type can be had, " around the campfire" , so to speak, we will always be immature children. Bob

Mature attitude and whether or not we can discuss it with out being immature children has nothing to do with it. It is political and as such, you should not have posted it in the first place.

I disagree. The article takes no sides. The article makes a lot of sense, in part. Are we to have a forum , AKA general chat, AKA " around the campfire" open to general comment, without bias,or not. I respect the MODS right to zap it into the ether, If they think that is what is needed. But I reserve the right to post it. I bet you haven't even listened to it. With respect, Bob

Old mate, we should remember we can post such threads here, without fear or favour. Our good friends can post a reply, for or against, without fear or favour. I respect that, and thank God every day I am in a country where that can happen. VIVA AULRO! vive Australia, & democracy.
AND, go the REDS next year. [ and, don't get too used to it NSW] Bob

"General Chat" is just that, so I agree with you there. "Think of it as around the campfire with the kids" is intended to keep things "G-rated" which I believe your article is. So you are 2 from 2, BUT, to think that an article/interview/whatever about the political career of an ex-politician falls within the "No Politics" rule is a bit of a strech IMHO.

My point is, that the subject specifics is totally irrelevant, the thread has a political base and therefore should not be posted at all.

Arthur, I do not believe Bob and I have a problem, we have a difference of opinion, a situation I am sure you are familiar with.

Paul, I did not mean in that way, what I try to said is that already there is controversy about the topic. Is controversy the right word??
Sorry that I do not expressed myself well at the beginning, it takes this old rusty brain a bit of time to come with words that are more acceptable.
I am sure that any of us can have a good exchange of opinions even on hot topics without loosing our composure.

    Bob,

    Thanks for posting the link.

I heard the last half of the conversation and was keen to hear the first part, so I'll follow your link.

BTW, in my humble opinion (from what I did hear of Latham) , while he certainly talked about politics, his comments were very non-partisan, in that he bagged all sides of politics in a pretty even handed way!

    Alan
