3D Mapping

For those of you who may be interested in 3D mapping there are a couple of samples in my gallery under the external fuel pump section, although they are small and won't show the detail that is in the program images.

I tried to get them on this post but couldnt get the link to the gallery

Thanks for that, the top one is Barrington and bottom is Howqua hills looking from Merrijig turnoff.
On the program they can be zoomed in/out, rotated and positioned on the screen so you can follow whichever track you want. Waypoints can also be shown.

That is pretty damn cool, where can i get this software. How does it all work, do you put a 2d map in one end and get a 3d out the other? Do tell, i have never seen anything like it, other than on the news? Matt

It's done with a combination of Oziexplorer, Natmap Raster, Oziexplorer 3D and Elevation Data which Oziexplorer website shows how to download etc.

Broadly speaking (which I'm not) A map is selected on Oziexplorer, 3D map control is selected and a perimeter is drawn around the area required for 3D then the 3D is activated and produces the map, all takes 5 seconds or so.

The programs are available as evaluation versions but are limited in their use.

The 3D can be zoomed in/out and rotated and moved around. and can be loaded with waypoints.

Something I forgot to mention is that 3D will also work with "moving map" on a laptop/GPS setup in the vehicle
