    Ok lets get this straight.

I am a P38A owner. I want to get an honest opinon/s on which is the better vehicle and why.a Rangie or a Disco.

No i dont want to start WW3, just get a feel for how people think and what are the great differences between the two. Apart from the name that is.

I am a new Rangie owner and was torn between that and a Disco, the Rangie came up first.

Which is the more reliable and easy to fix.

    How do you define better?

The Rangerover is up market compared to the Discovery, which means that it has more luxury and more gadgets. As a general rule, this means that the Rangerover will be more expensive to maintain/repair and less reliable. But that is only a general rule - it all depends on exactly which models you are comparing.

Unfortunately, the P38A is usually considered to be the least desirable (although this will generally be reflected in the price you pay!). This represented a major design change from the Classic, which had been in production a long time, and was replaced by the L322 after a relatively short production run. The problem is not so much that problems are likely, but that when they occur, they are likely to be expensive.

    Hope this helps,

I think you'll find the answers you get will be based on what they own.

I own an RRC and an L322 so I would say Rangies are the go, but I'm sure Disco owners would say otherwise.

    Hey mate.
Well, your question is an easy one. The RR in all its guises is a ground breaking, revolutionary vehicle that all others follow....including Discovery. But. Of course the RR will be more complex, more expensive to repair....well, that's up to you.
The Discovery is a more simpler compromise. The most tech in a D2 is the ACE and rear airbags......
Me, I'd be happy with either.

I can only speak with any authority on rr classics[5],p38hse,d2td5 and l322 td6.Rangie classics, great but a little dated now.p38,thought all my birthdays had come at once.So much luxury,so nice to drive,so much power. But was forever costing me money, especially at the bowser.Long trips were ok,but in traffic?Next came d2.Nice inside and out.Woodgrain dash,7 seats, sls, rear air con, pretty cheap to run.p38 left it for dead in comfort.Back seats were like wood.L322,leaves all the others in its shadow. No sunroof like the p38,but thats all i miss.Goes almost as hard, but uses less fuel than the others.Like all rangies, dear to fix,but love it

I guess that depends on model years are you considering and what budget are you thinking of spending?
