    Puma Gearbox Bracket

Looking under my 130 today I noticed a rectangular cross member going east west bolted to the two chassis rails, welded to this is a flattened pyramid shaped bracket with what looks to be a 5 or 6mm hole drilled in it

the gearbox/transfer case above this also has a similar hole lining up with the one in the bracket, gap between the two is about 30mm

Question.....is this a shipping bracket of some kind or should there be a mount there?

when I looked under the Missus's 90 she has exactly the same setup so maybe nothings amiss

    Cheers

Apparently, its there as a piece of tooling. IIRC, its used for locating when changing the gearbox mounts?

Defender 130 with an 8 speed auto behind a 3.2 ltr 5 cylinder FOMOCO engine and LT230 TFC. Now we are talking a suitable package for touring. MLD
