I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Bob, it was Mo Mackackie and his popular radio show was still running when I was a primary schoolboy 1950's.

Yep, I remember Mo and those old radio days.
Living on the farm we would sit around the old battery wireless and laugh our heads off.
There were lots of radio serials, Nan liked to listen to Doctor Mack, I liked Hop Harrigan.
Then we had the hit parade started by Alan Toohey, I think, half hour on Thursday nights. Us kids were wrapped in that.
Nan would call Pop in from the paddock when it was time to listen to Blue Hills.

    Sigh.

I don't remember Mo but my brother took me to the Theatre Royal In Brisbane to see George Wallace Senior and Rosie Sturgess.

The main thing I remember as a pre pubescent boy was at each corner of the stage there were topless beautiful women who were not allowed to move.
I recall one got an unbearable itch and had to scratch. Made my day.

    Regards Philip A

    Heh heh.
I went to that Thearte Royal with my father in law when we went to Qld to pay him a visit in 1959.
I remember George had a trick with a huge safety pin, Shudder, If he missed the target he would he would have scewered his dong.
For a few seconds a light would come on and a totolly naked girl would be standing there. Beautiful. Then that light would go out and the curtain would come down.
After the show he wanted to show me the red light area. From memory brothels were legal at that stage.
You could pay two shillings and go in and look at the scantilly dressed girls and chat.
He reckoned it was two bob well spent. Each his own, I only went there the once.

The Theatre Royal didn't last much past 1959. TV finished it. Very popular in its day. Many people had permanent bookings for seats each week. The theatre had two entrances. Downstairs to the left and upstairs to the right and in the middle "The Theatre Royal Hotel". One could slip out at intermission and scoff down a couple or more beers.
