    Dick Cepek Fun Country

    G'day All,

Has anybody had any experience with these tyres ? I looked at them today in a 265/70/17, they look like a pretty aggressive all terrain. Apparently you can get up to 120k kms on them, don't know how true that is.

    Cheers

"Fun Country" doesn't do it for me.
Worse if it's in big white letters.
Having said that, it's a manly tread pattern.

Have Bridgestone "Sporty Style" tyres on the Honda.

Chuckle whenever I see Maxxis "Big Horn"

Maybe we should have a thread suggesting names for tyres:

    Skid Marx
    Gravel Rash

I might be wrong but think you will find they are not common tyre on a D3/4, might be best to ask in the Defender or D2 section.
    Cheers,

Fortunately these ones don't come with white writing.
Are people only putting 245's on their 17's not 265's ?

They are fairly large at 31.9 inches and they will probably rub. Some 265 70 17s are smaller at 31.6 eg. BFG KM2s. I'm running 245 70 17 KM2s on mine without any issues.

Thanks Geedublya, I was unsure if they would rub or not. How are the KM2's on road ? Are they your everyday tyre you run ?

The D3/4 is very quiet inside and even though the KM2s are a fairly quiet MT they are loud in a D3/4. They also cause some vibration especially at low speed and increase fuel consumption (1-2 l/100). I'm running them everyday at the moment as my 20s require replacement. I can put up with the noise however I will be happy when I get new tyres for my 20s and I can take them off.

Other than the noise and vibration they are great tyres they grip well and are predictable at the limit. They work well off road and seem to be very tough. I've torn chunks out of the tread and sidewalls in the rocks but have had no flats.

Cheers for the info Geedublya , I'm running 18 inch GG AT2's there ok. Stepping down to 17's for the next set and am looking for a more aggressive AT or maybe MT depending on, on road manners as I don't want to change between wheels/ tyres. This gives me something to think about.

I agree with what Geoff said about the KM2's, I have the 265/70 17 KM2's on the D3 and have done at least 20k on them and have found them to be very good on road and off and yes the are noisy and vibrate. But worth it if you go seriously off road on a regular basis.
    Cheers,
    Terry
