If its plaster rather than plastered brick we pinned old towels to the walls with drawing pins and soaked them for a day or 2.Came off pretty well with a decent scraper.
You can hire the flash machines they use on the reno shows from Bunnings

You can hire a wallpaper wall steamer that wets and heats the paper, makes it easier to remove.

    Ok thanks.
This humble obode started life 50 or so year ago as a remote beachside fishing shack. Been added to over the years and now you could almost say it resembles a house.
Pity it is no longer as remote as it was when we purchased it. Surrounded by preople. Not happy.
Most of the walls were lined with ply nailed to the beams.
My earlier renno's involved removing it and fitting proper plaster board.
Bein on me own now I cant be bothered, I just want to remove tattered paper and paint the wall.
I am hoping someone might have a witches brew concoction that I could apply to soften the stuff allowing it to be scraped off.
Been on that long and so hard I almost need an angle grinder to mark it.

    PS: to the above.
I have been here 25 years so plaster probably 30 or 40 odd year old.
