    cabling inside RAI

    hi guys

I am going to get a Raised air intake. which I am thinking of installing myself cabling inside RAI I also want to add a uhf antenna to the side of the roofrack ( with fold down bracket if I can find one to fit), and also a light bar at the front.

can I run the cables up inside the rai? or would I affect waterproofing and would they make a noise? I am just concerned about taking off the trim on the windscreen pillar in case it doesn't go back with two cables in there.

    thanks

    Simon

RAI isn't water sealed. A Snorkel is...

You could seal it; just take your time...

    Just to add...

Yes you can cable inside, or on a Disco/RRS you could go up behind the A pillar trim.

I have previously had my antenna on the roof rack crossbar, with cable ran as above. I just had to cut a small notch out of the top of the trim, so the cable did not get cut where it exits.

Simon i got my LR RAI installed by Opposite Lock who sealed it between the RAI/Body/intake and the airbox itself, required changes to the the hoses as they are only air rated. The LR dealership would not do this, they would only fit it as a standard RAI. All up including LR RAI, fitting and sealing it cost me approx $1750, trouble is every time its serviced and the air filter is changed, its not sealed anymore , i have been told a slop of vaseline should sort it next time i go wading

Or Opposite Lock will install a Safari snorkel for about $1000 less than that....

Not for the Sport .. i have an official Range Rover Sport LR Accessory.. they are pretty rare. Yes Safari do produce them for the D4's, however i was answering
a specific question in regard to the LR RAI that was raised (excuse the pun)

My mistake..... I was trying to help Simoncs find a more cost effective solution....didn't realise he drove a RRS..

not sure what he drives Mark, just providing some facts in regard to my route as they say and what it cost.. If he has a Disco, then why not go the Safari route... a bit uglier yes.. but practical
