I got these figures from the LROC Magazine. These are sales figures comparing Land Rover sales with Toyota sales. Its, not good so if you scare easily or have a weak heart look away now.

Freelander- Highest- 50 (March), Lowest- 14 (November)
Rav 4- Highest 1371 (March), Lowest- 966 (April)
Discovery- Highest- 231 (Feb), Lowest- 94 (November)
Prado- Highest- 1796 (June), Lowest- 1052 (Jan)
Defender- Highest- 45 (October), Lowest- 12 (Jan)
Land Cruiser- Highest- 1460 (June), Lowest- 971 (Jan)
Range Rover- Highest- 51 (March), Lowest- 19 (Nov and Dec)
Lexus LX470- Highest- 49 (Sept), Lowest- 19 (October)
Defender Ute- Highest- 12 (March), Lowest- 0 (Dec)
Cruiser Ute- Highest- 1822 (June), Lowest- 829 (Jan)
The total sales for a month
Land Rover- Best month- 336 (Feb), Worst Month- 158 (Nov)

Not really good is it! Land Rover have a lot of answering to do. Not only are they withdrawing dealerships left right and centre, their already poor advertising routine is getting worse. Lets hope Discovery 3 breathes life into Australias love of Land Rovers. Matt

the reason for those figures is simple.
you dont need to buy a landy every three years.
they dont die.
Thats a good point. People who tend to buy land rovers do so generally because they love the brand. People who buy toyos gnerally do so as a mode of transport and are more likely to trade up at 40000km or whatever. In saying this, Land Rover needs to steel these customers from toyo, more second hand disco's etc to choose from for us. My biggest fear with buying either a Defender or Disco is the worry about reliablity. Can I get the same as a Toyota. I know part of the fun of owning an old landy is being able to work on it yourself etc, but if I am buying something fairly new I don't want to be constantly spending weekends repairing it. I know this is blasfimy, but this is the image problem that Land Rover has.
Unfortunately you are right slaughts, lets hope Ford turns this around, they seem to be quite serious about it. They have threatened closure of the Solihull plant when workers refused to change their ways. MattOriginally posted by slaughts

the reason people are doing their own repairs is that they have had the thing that long and its cheaper.
the others need to change cars every three years to keep in warranty...they dont last much longer than that.
Landrovers are not any more or less reliable than Toyota, the main problem that I have seen is that LRA and the dealers don't offer the after sales service that Toyota does.Originally posted by slaughts

My parents have a 100 series cruiser, numerous problems, but all fixed very quickly by Toyota with no hassles. Try getting that from Landrover!
Toyota just work harder to protect their image of reliability
Yes, and when you only get 2 year warranties compared to the 3 years plus with other makes. It only adds to that rep.
