D4 Park Brake

Hi guys

Just had my MY2011 D4 2.7 at the dealer again to get the park brake looked at, this is the 3rd or 4th time it has been adjusted.

Recently it has not disengaged completely when either parked on a hill or reversed out on to a hill then driven up the hill.
It was taking 4 or 5 attempts to disengage fully.
The truck has done 60k and was bought new and serviced regularly by the dealer, is my daily drive and only done approx 200 klm of gravel roads. I don't use the "auto drive off" function.
It is now working ok after being "cleaned and adjusted" again but I'm confused as to the need for continual adjustment being required.
Any ideas would be appreciated as I don't want to keep going back to the dealer and the warranty period is getting close.

Hi Mike,
The hand brake is not normally so labour intensive .............

Depending entirely how you use your Disco. If you get it muddy, wet & dirty or use it for launching the boat, you will need to do much more regular maintenance on it.
On the Disco3.co.uk web site the is a manual called Bodsy's Brake Bible.

It has everything you'll ever need to know about care & feeding of your Handbrake.

I was a little daunted when first attacking it but now I just check mine every 10,000 wham I do the Oil & Filter Changes

I've got the same vehicle & vintage but with less mileage and the handbrake has failed on 3 occasions now. It's a common problem on the D3/4's and unfortunately all you can do is make sure they clean & adjust the park brake regularly. Otherwise, just don't use it which is a bit difficult

You can always take a few bricks to stick behind/in front of the wheels

I guess that makes sense since we went back to Land Rovers beginings with the starter button

But in those days,at least they were smart enough to have a key,not that silly thing they have now.
