Who else in NSW read yesterday's Drive section in the Sydney Morning Herald??
In short, Drive did a review of the D3 (V8), X5 (3.0p), Prado (V6p), Towrag (V6), Paj (V6).
X5 won....while being barely acceptable off-road they believe no-one else has come close to matching its on-road performance/dynamics.
D3....air suspension **** itself 200km from civilisation and dropped to its bump stopsSorry, but in a brand new $81,000 motor car that is unacceptable. They do not believe the hole in the air line was as a result of a stone (would not matter if it was). Eventually, even turning a blind eye to the D3's reliability issue (putting it down to an early batch of pre-production vehicles) it only came equal second with the Prado. They thought it was excessively heavy and had poor fuel consumption on the test. (I think it was a bit of mismatch having a V8 Disco versus all V6 vehicles, but where was the V6 Disco?).
The only other thing was the V-dubbs power steering failed, which provided a relaibility companion for the D3.
LR need to develop some smart marketing campaigns to change these embedded perceptions around Landy reliability...

It was the LR dealer in Morwell who diagnosed and fixed the air line.
Will be interesting to see whether Morwell is one of the dealers on the 'hit-list' and whether they can get a reprieve?
Who would be the next largest dealer to Morwell?

I read it and wept.
The review was luke warm at best.
But Motoring Journos have families to feed and Newspapers have to sell newsprint. So a shock horror story will help.
I bet LRA's response will be conspicuous by its absence.
