LT77 synchro into a Landcruiser Fairey OD?
Hello all, this is my first post (I'm a Landcruiser owner) but I think you guys might be able to help me.
I am in the process of rebuilding my Fairey Overdrive for my 1983 HJ47 Landcruiser troopy. Fairey made overdrives for landcruisers in two variants firstly a bolt on package that fits on the back of the transfer case behind the main shaft of the gearbox and secondly an overdrive that was integral to the entire transfer case and had a lay shaft about where the PTO output cover was. These were the superior variant and have been kicking around in people cars for the last 30 years. This is the one I have.
I want to replace the synchros in the unit, having a look on the internet my synchro look damn identical to an LT77 synchro (TKC1562-FRC8232). See below my synchro and one from brit-part.co.uk, in all other pictures too from other angles the similarity is obvious.

This makes sense as Fairey was only a winch company and would of being using other ready available Rover parts for such a small order product as a Landcruiser overdrive.
The similarities may by superficial however, I was hoping that someone on this forum may have one kicking about in a box on the garage floor or something and would be able to make a few measurements to confirm my suspicions. I already tried lrautomotive in Thomastown but unfortunately they didn't have one in stock. Here are some approximate dimensions.
- The outer diameter to the tips of the teeth is 76 mm
- The width of the key indents is 8.6 mm
- The depth of the ring is 10.4 mm
As far as I am aware, online I may be the only person who has made this association, so if I'm right it could be valuable information to all of the Landcruiser Fairey OD owners out there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
