    D4 Navigator Detailed Display

Well, I have signed the paperwork on a new 2014 D4 in Loris Blue.

One thing I noticed during the test drive was that the navigator display was quite rudimentary compared to the after market Garmin I have in the Freelander 2.

I like to use the GPS speed display, particularly on long highway trips, being more accurate that the speedo.

In the short test drive I did not spend time trying to see if I could get the onboard Navigator to display speed and other trip variables such as time to go etc.

Does anyone know if the Navigator display is configurable to show current speed?

I did a couple os searches but found nothing.

    Regards, Tony

Same system as MY12, on mine it does show time & distance to go (top left of screen). Easy to swap to split screen which can be zoomed independently or have half show next decision pointlus many other features but no GPS speed.

When I first got my D4 I used a portable GPS so I could compare dash display with GPS and kept a crib sheet in the console until I remembered that variances.

ITS Rubbish.. don't persevere with it.

The D4 navigator is a waste of space. I've recently taken delivery of a D4 MY14 HSE. There are bitumen roads in WA that have been extant for over 10 years (including one on which I live grrrr!) yet even the latest version of the software doesn't have them on it... including one way streets in Perth Metro that have been one way for years. My cheapo Garmin($200 lifetime map upgrades) that hasn't been updated for 2 years has them all on it!
And they expect you to pay $300 for updates! That's an insult and won't be happening. As for the "off road" mode mapping.... we'll I'm confident if one of Prince Charles' polo ponies gets lost in the paddock he will be able to find it... I will continue to use HEMA on an ipad and my trusty Garmin Nuvi
I made my displeasure know to LR Australia and got the usual silky but worthless and condescending spin doctor response..Overall I'm very happy with the vehicle, having moved on from a 2002 Landcruiser troopy.. but get really annoyed when a potentially brilliant vehicle is spoilt by superficial rubbish like this.

Stupid really to let down such a great car with such a rudimentary nav system - pioneer aftermarket av units have the ability to interface with apps on your smartphone ffs - $20,000 hyundai's have a batter gps /av setup ! Catch up LR!

That was one of the reasons I didn't order that with ours this year. Sure it looks good, but the cost of the factory unit is blatantly overpriced. After we got the car in May, we filled out a LR customer survey & my gripe was at that price point it really should be OE....anyway my TomTom works better and cost a lot less.
