Is it really a Discovery Sport?

    Looking at this link
Discover The New Discovery Sport Mid Size SUV - Land Rover

got me wondering. Is it a Discovery Sport. Me, well I cant see it at all. It looks like a Freelander to me.

When the RRS came out, they developed a smaller high performance version of the Range Rover on a smaller platform and tried to develop an aesthetic that had common elements across both vehicles. The onroad handling was improved and the acceleration and stopping were also improved.

The Discovery Sport. All I can see is a Freelander. There is no common aesthetc with the Discovery, not even the stepped roof. And unlike the Discovery it does have the round Freelander nose, the clam shell bonnet and motors in it that are slower and less powerful than the Discoverys.

I've just got no idea on how they can call it either a Discovery or a Sport. Maybe they could have called it the Defender Sport.
    Cheers

What intrigues me is a 2.0 litre motor with a 107" wheelbase..

    Long live the 100" wheelbase.

Slunnie, it is a freelander. The new freelander will be called Discovery sport. It could be to take away the negative stigma of the early 1.8 petrols.

Absolutely, I understand that it is a rebadged Freelander. I'm more probing to see if others consider it to be a "Discovery Sport" though. I tend to think it has missed the mark of a vehicle design which should have that badge.
    Cheers

Just like the Evoque, should not be wearing the Range Rover name.

Actually its just a ford territory with a new bonnet and bumper!
Same roof, doors, wagon windows, hell the territory already has, albeit way to late, the 2.7 TDV6. Also a similar drivetrain, as in no low range. It is even going to have 7 seats, just like the territory, glue gun(kluger) , Rav4, ,,,,,,

    I like it....

Can someone tell me though , what are 4wd engines? The ebrochure doesn't say but says terrain response is only available with 4WD engines.

Another pointless vehicle, at least the sport will have some offroad ability - Murano's got nothing going for it.
