    Clutch spring rattle, or other?

Can someone describe the Puma clutch spring rattle noise and symptoms?

I have a high pitched metallic tinkling sort of noise - sounding like a loose rattly bit of tin or something - its intermittent depending on the speed/vibration of the car at the time and occurs with clutch in or out.

    Any thoughts?

My 2010 90 has done 67000 kms and has gone through 2 clutches, the 2nd being done by LR at the moment.
I noticed it mostly in low range where gear changes were terrible and backlash really pronounced.
The rattle you can check by taking off in first with no accel and putting your foot on the brake, the anti stall will keep it going and you may hear an intermittent rattle.
also you may hear it when stopping the engine try stopping it with clutch pedal deprssed and then with the pedal out and see if you can hear a difference.

I have started getting a rattle at low revs under load, which seems to be a heatshield or similar in the engine bay.

If you can reliably replicate the noise perhaps open the bonnet, get someone else to drive and see if you can pinpoint the source of the sound a bit better.

Don't forget the handbrake being adjusted too tight causes snatching and makes a chugger chugger noise rolling in neutral. Pat

I had a simiral "tin" rattle coming under the def,it was the transfer case mount heat shield,it was fractured(like on my disco 2),at first i thought it was clutch springs, then it got worse -especially after a long hard run - then i thought it was the middle silencer, then i stoped thinking and got under the def
