'96 disco why so cheap?

Hiya Folks.
Looking into purchasing a 4WD. Wondering why the price seems so cheap in comparison with other makes. I mean a 5 dr, 4 sp auto V8i, with 130 plus K's for under $16K...
What are the major issues with the V8i's?
Any help appreciated

That sounds about right, the V8i's are always cheaper because of the fuel consumption of the V8. They are just as good as any other vehicle, and in terms of off road ability, better, but the fuel consumption of the V8 makes them less desireable compared to the TDi equivalent. $16 sounds ok, I paid $17000 for my 98 Diesel, with 160000km on the clock. If you look around you will find cheaper. If you dont mind the fuel consumption the V8 disco is an awsome vehicle (some of the other guys will tell you how bad it is), if you are worried about the cost of fuel look at a diesel. Nowhere near as much go on the highway but a **** load cheaper to keep fuel up to them. Matt

Hi cattle prod, In IMO the car its self is great, maybe its the fact that they are generally quite thirsty ( V8 ).

But if you can afford to feed it then you are looking at a 4WD that will out perform most other standard 4WDs.

or

I dont care what the question is but the answer is better economy.

Which one suits you better?

If you choose the first, go the V8, if you choose the second, go thr diesel. Matt

yeah i agree, my old man has a '97 V8 auto and it does go hard... great acceleration and offroad capabilities - and i know it's probably the wrong thing to do, but i love taking off at the lights and leaving a Disco TD5 for dead

The poor resale is mostly due to the fact that real Aussie Blokes drive "Cruisers" or the mighty Patrol. Disco's and RR are poofters car's mate.

Go to any pub outside the city and you'll soon see what I mean .
