    Went to a sale today

Went to a clearing sale near Dubbo today. I did not notice in the advertisement, but one item was an AACO 4 x 4, ex army by the underlying paint.

A Cab/chassis, its last use, by the paint on the cab, was as a fire truck with a local RFS brigade.

Pretty much rust free, and no real damage, but missing the driver's door and most interior trim (did they have much?). Engine/gearbox replaced with a Jap diesel with auto transmission, with a cooler in front of the radiator, hence grille missing.

A goer, fitted with four near new 12.00x20 bar treads, it went for $750, with not much interest.

The thought did occur, but it probably would have cost almost as much to get it home, and then what would I do with it!

If anyone is really interested, PM me and I can pass on the auctioneer's details - they will probably pass on contact details of the buyer, who might be interested in selling - they didn't seem all that interested in buying.

A bit off topic, but at the same sale a very good (no rust, good original paint, running well, but unregistered, brakes redone this year) FJ-47 diesel trayback sold for $3500.
