    I think i'm in love....

Coming home just after 6pm on the Western ring road Greensborough bound i saw a beautiful sight , at first i thought it was a FC101 but then when i came up along side i saw that it was a fully restored dual cab Oka painted in a gloss LR type green with a nice new matching green canvas canopy over its tray.
It has NSW plates if any one knows the owner, no pics as i was too busy drooling over my steering wheel.

There are a few Okas about. Did you know the army had some.
I have met a few people who had owned them and loved them. it seems their Achilles heel were their drive shafts. A bit weak but easy to replace.

Now that you mention it, it did have a square plaque just under the driver side that was half red/ half white or silver split diagonally.

    Like this but red/white.

    Interesting.
I wish you hat got a photo now.

There was a suspected ex army one for sale parked on the side of a major road in the Knox area about a couple of years ago. I only heard about it when work colleagues told me they saw a 101 for sale. "Like this?" I asked showing them a picture of my 101. "No." was the reply. It had to be an Oka.
There are plenty about. Shall I look for one for you to buy?

I know my dad used to travel Cape York a bit in his Mitsubishi Canter 4WD years ago and the old story was "Okas made in Australia, pushed by the world" haha i got a good laugh out of it. A lot of the tourist companies running up the Cape used to have them at one stage.
