Making Worms Sleepy

I have a problem with my live worms. It's not a problem with keeping them alive. I can usually keep them going for a few days in this.

The problem is they get a bit too active and get a bit bitey with each other and you end up with them falling to bits sometimes as they go on the hook.
Many years ago I knew a bloke who had a mate who was a chemist and had access to expired prescription drugs that were supposed to be destroyed and he used to get amocycillin and grind it into a powder and add to the water in his worm tray and this sedated the worms while still keeping them alive.
Does anyone know any other ways of slowing them down. I have no problem keeping them alive, it's just that they are a bit too live.
I sometimes, due to my shiftwork use a sedative called restavit which is essentially just an antihistamine, is it possible that it could work if dissolved into the water in the baitbox ?
Any ideas ???
