Went to Tingalpa on sunday to watch an open public demo day put on by the Brisbane Model Flying Club.
I actually hadn't watched any of this stuff since 1994 when I used to ride past the field every day.
Unbelievable.
The #4 in the world championships was there.
They had warbirds flying through pyrotechnics .
Some a/c were almost as big as their original. I met a guy had a Quickie which you could have almost squeezed into the cockpit.
The flying standard was superb , not one a/c came to grief in very trying gusty conditions.
Recommend it to anyone.
There was also tethered model car racing there.
Can you believe these things get up to 330kmh?
Yes. I was at the world champs when they were held here in Sydney many years ago at the club I was in at the time - the Sydney Society of Model Engineers Sydney Society Of Model Engineers Inc. - Home. It was the first time someone had broken 200mph (320km/h) in Oz.
One can barely see the cars at that speed.
