When you do that, the best relief you'll ever get for the pain, is to heat up a straightened paperclip to red hot, then quickly place it against the middle of that blackened part of the nail. The tip of the hot clip burns it's way through the nail and gets quenched with the escaping blood. you don't need any pressure. The heat will do the job, but you do need a measure of courage to do they to yourself. The relief is massive as the pressure is released. This is the method they use in hospital, and I've also done it to myself. As only a couple of days have gone by, it's probably worth giving a go. the blood in there may not have congealed yet.
Good luck with it, and send us a report.
Don.
