    G20 Brisbane Shenanigans

So I think Marine 1 just flew over my house. Yes, I know, it's technically not called Marine 1 when its unoccupied by the President, but it was definitely two dark green Sea King helicopters preceded by two V22 Ospreys flying NE from Amberley towards Brisbane about 1500ft AMSL. Probably a recce for this coming week-end's hoopla.

Noisy buggers. I guess the shenanigans are beginning. I'm off to Musgrave Park tomorrow evening to a prayer vigil with Aunty Jean Phillips, one of the local aboriginal elders. I wonder if I'll get arrested.

I also wonder how many ASIO trigger words I've inadvertently put in this post? If AULRO goes off-line then we'll know...

BTW, I thought I'd start this as a general G20 thread as there are bound to be many post-worthy curiosities over the next week or so. I suspect whomever posts a photo of Abbot vs Putin going UFC on each other will win the internet.

As long as nothing Political is posted. If someone wants to discuss the politics of it, there is a place for that, and it's not GC.

Agreed. Not looking for anything political in this thread, just peculiar or out of the ordinary.

Yeah someone at Amberley (on another forum) saw the Ospreys do their transition from normal to hover flight. Lucky bugger, but he can't take any photos while on base. Definitely the POTUS show. Not sure if a C5 full of armoured cars has arrived yet.....

First delegate ha turned up already (maybe he put it in his diary wrong) the guy from South Africa. (or is that Sud Efrica!)
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

    But wait!!!
Channel seven is reporting imminent invasion by a Russian task force in the Coral Sea. It consists of 2 cruisers and 2 support ships.
I bet we didn't know about Them!
That's what we get for politely asking for the Russians to tell the truth and apologise.
    Regards Philip A

Wow, if Channel 7 have reported that, then it must be true! They are almost as accurate as the Internet most of the time.

If you do a bit of research you will see that it is not a media gossip
    Quote from HERE

Defence announced late on Wednesday it is "monitoring Russian naval vessels that are currently transiting through international waters to the north of Australia".

It stressed: "The movement of these vessels is entirely consistent with provisions under international law for military vessels to exercise freedom of navigation in international waters."

Defence Force chief Mark Binskin confirmed Defence was watching the fleet. In a reference to the fact it was a considerable distance for the Russian navy to travel, he noted one of the ships was an ocean-going tug, which tows other ships.

"Their confidence? One of them is an ocean-going tug," he said. "It's just part of their operation. They are in international waters. They are allowed to do that. They are in our approaches and we will continue to surveil them with air and maritime assets."
