    MY14 Puma DSC

Anyone know how it works? Does it just activate the abs, or more like the old disco sway bar thingamajiggies too?

I don't think the sway bars play any role other than what they've always done in limiting body sway/ roll in corners.

I would certainly imagine the DSC to be a refined version of the traction control system. The reaction time needs to be significantly quicker than that of the "ordinary" TC, but its unlikely to be a complete stand alone system.

Anyone seen a skid pan test video of a Defender with the new DSC system yet?

    Cheers,

    Lou

And it will be MY15, specifically 070714 was the first build date, like mine
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

You're thinking of Active Cornering Enhancement in the series 2 Discoveries.
Defenders dont have that, just standard swaybars.
The DSC works via the ABS system, but has more sensors to monitor different vehicle conditions, such as g forces and steering angle. It can then control engine power and apply braking on appropriate wheels if it thinks things are getting out of hand.

As Andy said MY15 models only...

Its part of the ABS/ECU and involves throttle and brake...

I hope the MY15 DSC is less "agricultural" than the TC is on a MY14 Defender

Never had a complaint about the old defender TC.. Worked brilliantly to the point I never fitted lockers.

    Went everywhere..

Effective TC requires matches Pads and rotors or you don't get the bite it needs..

Thanks for the info guys! All my paperwork says 2014 Model. How can one confirm?

This is my 3rd Puma, and certainly the best yet - Must be a Tuesday build I think I can feel the DSC kicking in over larger speed bumps, but cant see any lights on the dash like you do with TC.

Atleast it has a button to turn it off I suppose.

Sounds like youre feeling ABS / TC kicking in...

DSC needs some scary throwing of the vehicle to kick in...

TC will give you a light, when it fires; but ABS does not.

Don't have DSC so can't help with that one...
