    Bonnet struts gone overnight !

Morning folks, had my bonnet up yesterday for couple of hours no problems.
This morning it is a dead weight to lift and won't stay up at all, Isuspect it is only one gone it is a little sticky on the shaft but no oil leaks.
Anyone had one (or two) go like this ?

Do I source new or are they rechargeable ?

Yes I've had this happen. You'll find it's probably only one as it needs both to hold the bonnet up.

I'm sure there are many options but I just sourced a new pair from my local dealer. I don't recall price but it must have been reasonable for me to take that option.

Source new and replace both. Regas may work for a while only as the unit you are regassing leaked to start with. Cost difference is not that great between regas and new especially when you get extra years out of new unit. Several aftermarket suppliers provide good kit or as another post says try the dealer for price.

I had this happen on the D3. Left the bonnet open over night and woke up to an almighty bang at 2:43am! Still remember it. Had to change my pants. I changed both pretty cheap as long as you don't buy from the stealers.

bonnet tends to twist with only one new strut

My guess is that one strut went quite awhile back and the second one was doing most of the work and now it has got tired as well.

And yes, I replaced both of mine at the same time. One does not really want one new strong strut doing all the work and the other lagging behind as that will tend to twist the bonnet.
