    10,000 km maintenance

    Hi Guys,

My 2014 Defender 110 has just passed 10,000 km.

I know it's not "due" yet, but was considering an oil + filter change.

How many of you guys did an engine oil + filter change at 10,000?

Did anyone do a fuel filter change at 10,000 as well?

Just pondering, as there are many many opinions out there.

    Cheers,
    Nige

    HI NIge,

I changed the engine oil, oil fiter and air filter at 12,000kms.
and greased the propshafts too. (that's when I found out the UJs have plastic washers....

I did not change the fuel filter but did let the water drain out of the filter.

    Cheers Martin

by the way, mine have done 32k kms and have the fist "dealer recommended" service done at 24k.

neither the air filter nor the fuel filter were changed.
so I guess the first 'official' change of them will be at 48k kms?

    is that normal???

    Oil change intervals

I have a 2009 Defender 110 and have now done 69k. I have changed the engine oil, oil filter and fuel filter every 10k.

Got the dealer to change my oil and filter at the 10,000km service.
Mine will be change at the most every 10,000km purely because that's how I prefer to run my engines.

Dealer said it needn't be done at this service, but did it for me anyway.

According to the "DEFENDER (2.2D) (ALL MODELS FROM 12MY ON) MAINTENANCE CHECK SHEET" from LR (here is a temp link) fuel and air filter are done at 40k intervals (aka "B" service).

Or when warranted, mine got done every 10K service because of the amount of dirt road/remote driving I was doing, the mantec RAI did make a very big difference to the amount of dust in the air filter. Pat

    Thanks guys for the feedback.

I think I'll go ahead with oil and filter change.

    Nige,

Not wanting to tell you how to suck eggs or anything, but just do yourself a favour and use the correct oil and a genuine parts filter...

The oil is pretty hard to source in less than 25 or 210 liter drums and getting the correct grade is not good enough as the 2.4 and 2.2 each run on a very specific blend.

Don't give LRA the option to deny warranty due to non specific oil or an after market filter.

In fact, one of those things that is really easier to instruct the dealer to do and pay for the filter and oil extra to the named service.

    Cheers,

    Lou

    Thanks Lou,

My plan was to get the dealer to do it anyway, but thanks for the heads up
