Comparing the D3 to the D4

For those of us who never originally got a chance to read this comparison attached is a link to a well written article comparing a D3 to the then new D4 which was written by Robert (not Ricahrd)Pepper (RMP) who was the original Mod of the D3/4/RRS section and is an accomplished journalist.
It makes for interesting reading and provides a reasonable yard stick for those wondering how the D3 stacks up against a D4.

Having had a D3 petrol, a D4 2.7 and now a D4 SDV6 I can attest to how good the 3.0 litre/8 speed box is. I still think the D4 centre console is a big step backwards in ergonomics.

I want my gear stick and forward-placed cup holders back!

You may have to mouse over the top right corner and click on the box with the arrow pointing up.Then you should get it.

Don't know why but it seems to work for me.

    Computers are not my go.

Yep your right Sniegy, its Robert not Richard, at least I got his forum name RMP right, though the first time I typed it I wrote RPM. ..l

Thanks for pointing out the mistake. ...

One thing that was meant to be improved from the D3 to the D4 was the stereo.

Our D3 and D4 both have the logic7 high end stereo's and both Gloria and I having compared the two stereo's back to back are both of the opinion that the D3's Logic7 stereo sounds much better in sharpness and quality of sound than the D4's supposedly more up spec and powerful newer unit.

It would be interesting to see if anyone else has compared the two units and hear what they have observed.
    Cheers,
    Terry

Can't comment on the logic7 but the whole AV setup in my SDV6 is crap considering its an $86,000 car. Iphone connection for music is useless as is the BT phone connection (I accept this could be an Apple issue), satnav is average to say the least (I could be at the destination by the time it allows me to enter the address) and the location of the AUX and USB sockets is an afterthought.
