    Snorkel for 110

Looking at custom fitting a snorkel to my 110 V8 to get some fresh cool air into her. I have found a few of these on ebay but not sure of the quality. Any one bought one of these?

Neither the Safari or Mantec copies are very "custom'" as most of us have either the originals or those copies fitted...

I used the "look alike Safari" on one of my UK Defenders and it was fine. Riv nuts lined up and the quality was good enough not to affect its function. Can't comment on Australian UV exposure though. My genuine Mantec needs plastic trim gel fairly often not to start looking decidedly ordinary!

In the end its just a molded plastic tube and there is not too much that can go wrong I suppose.

Just make sure you get one to suit the correct side of the car!

    Cheers,

    Lou

And make sure it seals properly, or it's a wasted exercise

I have had mine painted in automotive paint to avoid any issues such as that!

Thanks guys, The custom fit is because the 110 I have doesn't have a vent on either side, so I will be cutting through the wing side and running my own internal pipe to fit the V8 air cleaner.

Given I was quoted more than double the ebay price from the local TJM store If this one last 5 years and I need to replace it I will still be ahead.

Really no intake (not a vent) either side...? Never seen one without it on at least one side!

Where does your vehicle have its air intake then?

    Cheers,

    Need to look more!
Typical of 1980s 110s, you know that vent in the top of the mudguard, that's the air intake, effectively. Heater one side engine the other.

Build you own, it is a simple PVC tube construction. I did mine and used a cyclone air filter.

Isuzutoo the vent in the guard has the winch controller mounted under there.

Lou there are vents on the top of the wings but not on the side. The air intake is top centre of motor. I want to get some cooler air in from outside.

Hi Lou , with It being a v8 It will be a county , they never had side inlets , well at least mine doesn't . Only on the wing tops . The air comes through the grill . I'm sure they came when we got the Defender's . The older series 3s had them ,but they were for the heaters only . Jim
