A neighbour has recently acquired a 1953 80" with a Valiant motor in it. He has been offered a land rover engine to go in it but is unsure if it is correct enough for a '53 80". The engine number is 141800981. Can anyone tell me what the engine should be and manufacture period?
Hi Geoff if you find this. You will find a wealth of information here to help your restoration.
Cheers,
Chris

That would make it a 2l spreadbore or a 2.25l?
Thanks,

The engine number in my 1950 is 170901688. Does anyone know what model or year this is from. It is a later model 2litre but unsure of its origin.

this is a list of series 1 engine numbers and the changes associated with each.
Doesnt help with a s2 etc number but anyway...
