DCs passive vs aftermarket ANR vs s/h branded...

Being a typical LR owner, I'm always looking at DIY rather than the nice neat brand New bought $tuff.

My current headset is either the School's ???-brand ANRs or my own David Clark H10-20 (Mono, one volume control, flexi boom and M-7A mic). Their's is quieter, but the audio in the DCs sounds nicer. Doubly so when the ANR battery powered one dies.. I'm guessing my mic is better than the unbranded one too.

Anyone have any experience with Sennheisers, such as the HMEC-250 on the s/h market? - Compatibility issues is my worry... Zulus and Bose headsets are beyond my $$$.

Plan C is a Bose QuietComfort 25 for $360 and hang an aviation mic/boom off it. This approach has a certain appeal...

Flying a Jabiru 160 in the foreseeable future.
