    Convoy

Did anyone watch convoy last night? Love that movie. I don't think I have seen it for 30 years.

Dave, it really wasn't that good, it was friggin' hard yakka, Sydney load, Melbourne unload, load again Back to Sydney unload, non stop, no sleep, then off to Adelaide and back to Sydney and at least one, usually 2 trips to Melbourne and back in one week.
A trip to Brisbane was like a holiday, cause it could take a few days to get a load back home, so a chance to service the truck and get some sleep.
Then there were the **** roads, Nazi RTA inspectors and "just got out of the wrong side of the bed" Cops, **** rates, unbelievable time deadlines, not the good old days for sure, at least for Owner Drivers, Regards Frank.

so really no different from now, but I was thinking more of the north western supply runs...

having spent time under the idiocracy of the south east I've always essentially maintained that australia would be a lot better off missing about a 200KM wide strip starting at about brisbane following the coast swinging down towards adelaide and making sure to take a special deviation to ensure the whole of canberra gets swallowed up.

The upside was no speed limiters.

One of my favourite films and anyone been on a trip with us may or may not have heard the song on departure.

yes, I agree, but I noticed watching the movie that there is a few variants of the song. I wouldn't mind getting hold of the whole soundtrack.
