noob dash engine light question and excess air

    Hi guys.

So ive recently bought a FL2 08. And ive alrdy got a engine light come on the dash. now ive read the book and it says it an emission problem. And if it starts flashing to stop driving the car.

To me this doesnt sound like a massive problem . But has anyone else had this problem? And can i let the missus drive it daily till i can get it booked in? Or is more of a omg u gotta do it right now kinda thing?

But to add to this whole dilema, im not sure if its me just being paranoid since the light has come on... But it sounds like as i accelerate heavily i can hear excess air is being pushed out from somewhere. This is my first turbo and/or turbo diesel car so is it just the turbo ? Or am i losing my marbles? Its all new to me...

Ive bought it from john hughs with a 2yr ext warranty on it. So im hoping itll get covered by that.

Any info or past experiences would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    Ben

It could be something simple like a leak at a turbo/intake hose but I'd be getting it checked ASAP otherwise you might void your warranty if you drive it knowing it has a problem.
