    A paucity of power

The ute 300Tdi suddenly seems to be performing sub-optimally.

Accelerations is poor, and foot to the floor it takes a long time to get up to 100kph at which point it tops out - used to go a little bit quicker than that !

Anyone have any ideas as to what this could be / where I should start looking?

Could it be the accelerator cable?

Turbo hoses? (Although the top one is silicon. I assume the others are but didn't crawl under the ute to check in my office clothes).

    Turbo?

    Engine?

Please help. I hope to god this is an inexpensive fix because the wife is OVER it !
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

    Sounds like throttle cable.
To be sure take note of how far you have to move the pedal before anything happens. If its more than 1/4 of the pedal travel there is your culprit.
Or just look in the engine bay if there is a lot of slack in the cable it is fairly easy to see.

If you don't have a boost gauge, see if you can get hold of one and check the boost on the turbo - mine normally peaks around 15-16psi

stuck wastegate or blockage between the tank and the IP most typically the sedimentor or the filter, sometimes the pickup from the tank.

Once Ive seen it from a blocked tank vent

Dave - presume you mean fuel tank. IP?

It didn't seem as bad this morning (though still there) so perhaps the fact this may be variable does point to a fuelling issue.

How would I check the waste gate?
