Advice on d3 purchase
Gday all
i am about to put my td5 defender on the market to fund a d3 purchase and have a few questions
kays , how much is too much for a tdv6? i have found a few with full service history for under $20k but they range between 180 to 240k on the clock
will a car with this amount of kays still be reliable
are there any particular areas i should focus on whilst inspecting/test driving
Cheers Sheafer

There are quite a few here with those kinds of Kays
Make sure timing belt has been changed at 160,000 and the new pump housing. Make sure it has steel pan on the transmission and that it has had the transmission fluid changed at least once preferably 2-3 times for those ks.
If it has had those things done and has been well maintained otherwise, there is no reason it should not be reliable.
Other things to check are front lower control arm bushes, front wheel bearings, and air compressor, also the airbags can mask shot shock absorbers which can be moderately expensive to replace.

Hi mate,
I purchased a 2005 SE Diesel a week ago for $18,500. It has 240k's on the clock. I was very hesitant due to the kms however the service history was flawless. I was told to look for the following:
160,000 Timing belt service
Air compressor replaced to new model
Auto trans serviced every 90,000
Sump replaced with steel one
Serviced at Land Rover specialist
Avoid cars with signs of off roading. Plenty of soccer mum cars around
I pick my car up Thursday, I am hoping I have found a good one!
