Question Michelin tires XZL, XPC, XCL, XS 750-16 ?

Hi I was trying to find out about the Michelin LT tube type tyres 750-16, the Michelin website doesn't show them, but I'm sure they're still available in one form or another. ( I appreciate a catalog or link)

My original wheels had Michelin XS type, I found them a very tough and long lasting tyre.

I'm looking got to replace them with a LT type, probably Michelin, but would be happy to have a recommendation for a substitute.
My reading on the forums suggests that Dunlop super gripper, Bridgestone 693 AT, or "super diggers", Olympic overlander etc might be substitutes, ( fitted on Toyota land cruisers i think)
Maybe the Michelin are still supplied on new defenders 130 and someone wants to get rid of a set.

I have a set of tubed 750-16 MT (Hankooks) for local trips where its expected to be muddy, and I use a set of tubeless 235/85 AT Pirelli scorpions for general offroad, beach and road work.

I want to stick with tube type for a desert trip so I can change the tubes and tires myself. thanks for your advice simmo

I chased up these tyres in the last week,I have ZXL's on my Tdi but Michelin Oz don't import them, even when I asked directly for 5 to be brought in they answered in the negative.I've ordered 5 General Grabber A/T 265/75/16 which are on special for $269 each fitted for my TDCi and the half worn BFG 235/85/16 it currently wears will go on the Tdi instead,I'm sure there would be a market for Michelin 7.50x16 tyres, mine were one of the only tyres that survived the Pilbara without complaint. Michelin XZL

Thanks Pat, I contacted Michelin Australia by email to ask them direct their reply is below. Call it $360 per tire, plus tubes and strap, fitting balancing I'd say youre close to $400 per wheel, they seriously don't want to sell any of those .
Still I'll ask around maybe there is better deals to be had. But if they're that price might be better to go with "General Grabber A/T 265/75/16 which are on special for $269 each fitted for my TDCi". Pat are you using tubes in them?

Hi Simmo, Thanks for your query, in relation to your query the size 7.50R16C XZL 116N, is the only pattern available in Australia. RRP is $326.36 + gst per tyre only, this price however, is only a guide as Michelin Australia cannot dictate the price at which authorised Michelin dealers sell our tyres to consumers. You will need to contact your local Michelin Dealer for fitment and a quote. Kind Regards, Michelin Australia.

Michelin agilis comes up in a 7.50 size. I have used xza with good results on 5.5 rims for my occasionally heavily loaded tray back.

    You could try here:

Although I think it is based in the US.

Not sure if Michelin still makes 8.25X16 XZL's. Have seen them listed and illustrations on European based websites but not in Australia. Maybe price is not as outrageous as 9.00X16's which have been available in Australia. Wonder if anyone has been keen enough to import their own. Probably a good fit on 6.5 inch Wolf rims.

I am keen to find 6 of these very soon, but in tubeless. Will start calling around here and over there. If I find someone I will let you know Simmo. If a bigger order for better pricing is possible even better.

Shame they are not that readily available. I guess pizza cutters are not fashionable

If you want a bargain, the Dunlop Grippers can be had brand new second hand off Toyotas for about $150 each. New price is around $240. There are quite a few around when you start looking. I'm about to buy 5 for my series 3.

I would seriously stick to tubeless as you can plug the tyre if you get a puncture...re-inflate and off you go...if the puncture is too bad you could then fit a tube.
I bought a set of Mickey Thompson ATZ3 235/85/16 not quite a AT not a MT 50/50 tyre
$320 each...plus they have a rebate cash back till the end of may.
