70,000km of Permagrin

Purchased my D4 in 2011... Permagrin formed..

Since then, aside from a squeaky dash pad which is being looked after it has performed flawlessly...

Never broken down, never failed.. Just provides effortless travel.

Post Melrose event it was asked to tow a Cross-Over Camper on a journey over corrugations, clay, salt pans etc, all of which it did with ease and style.

The end of the trip was to roll over 70,000km less than 3 minutes from home at the end of a fabulous journey.

This is my 6th Land Rover, and my wifes 90 = #7...

The service and experience purchasing these vehicles, the ongoing commitment by the dealer service departments and the way the vehicles are looked after has made the experience fantastic.

I can not wait for the new "Defender" to be released and that may become #8

With all of these vehicles has come the community / family of fellow LR enthusiasts... Making the experience even better...

I feel your pain,the only issue I've had was the adapter on the TDCi,fixed 3months out of warranty by my dealer,my better half wants another Range Rover but last weekend went looking at the Disco sport,the new Defender and DS would be #9 and #10. Pat

The D4 is my 8th daily drive Landy,and yes they have improved somewhat over the years since my first,a Ser2 88".

My first ride in a LR was a series bush basher 20 yrs ago. The dedication cemented by a Kimberley trip in the mid 90s in a v8 110 & a 2A 88".

I then bought a Isuzu 110 that had been abused and neglected, and poured a heap into that. It rewarded us with a tour around oz.

The next dream was a Perentie wagon nut & bolt restoration that sucked the life and wealth out me. But which resulted in a gem that I have enjoyed a heap and hopefully someone else will appreciate. If I had a heap of money I would mothball it for the kids & grand kids. But I don't. ATM the kids & wife won't get in it for a big trip. So it must go.

As I feel old and the family resistance, but want to keep a bit of adventure in my veins , I bought a very capable and comfortable LR. I have been fortunate to acquire a L322 tdv8. It's a vehicle my wife & kids will travel long HW km in. I have also acquired the stupid grin, as its a great car. However, I have no idea what is going on around me, but it just works. The L322 tdv8 is like a D4, with more power and plusher seats. dde3b Love it.

I just hit 10000 too

I only have one regret - no where near enough of those km has been on tracks or touring

My D4 hit 180,000 a few weeks ago. My only regret is that too many of those km have been on tracks and touring so the km are going up too quickly!


We are doing a trip along the south coast to Esperance and then up the tracks to Balladonia, across to Cocklebiddy and up the Connie Sue and Anne Beadell tracks to Laverton in two weeks time, so the km keep coming.

Added some Permagrin miles to Basil135s D4 yesterday..

A Cannonball run from Whyalla to Nullabor and return...

1,582km in under 17 hours including an hour for dinner at Ceduna Foreshore.


Discovery 4 + Fyrlyts + Great company = Many a happy mile...
