I found a shop today that has a big box of 27mm sockets at $1 each.
They are a 'no-name' brand, chrome vanadium, 6-point, 1/2" drive. FIXMAN brand, the shop also had a few odd large spanners (29mm, 32mm etc.)

Fit later Series IIa & III plus Defender. Just need a decent breaker bar to go with the socket.




I haven't got the time to post them out (probably cost 10 times as much as the purchase cost) but if anyone needs some and can collect from Narre Warren South please let me know.
