Question D4 HSE. Fyrlyt Nemesis installation advice please.

Since the bushfires early this year the kangaroos and deer have been looking for feed along the road verges. Now the daylight hours are reducing it is becoming even more hazardous to drive around my home area.

And so I have bought a pair of Nemesis with the fuses, cables and relays recommended by David at Fyrlyt. Before I get started on the installation, I thought there will be some tips that others can help me with.

Specifically for a D4, where have people installed the 12/24 volt transformers? Where is a good place to secure the two relays? Any other pitfalls to avoid?

I have an OL bull bar and have a nice driving light switch already fitted with my current, inadequate driving lights. I know I need to upgrade the power looms to 6mm.

All comments, pointers and photos etc appreciated. I'll let you know how I get on.

    Hi.

I had my Fyrlyts fitted so I can't help that way but just in case you don't know there are wiring diagrams on the Fyrlyt website under the Tech heading.

Apologies if you're already aware of this.

P.S. I'm very happy with mine.

Thanks, I have the wiring diagrams and happy with the circuitry and connections.

It is the location for securing the two 12/24 volt transformers that is my main issue. The relays will probably be fixed to the side engine bay panel in front of the OEM battery. I have a place there where some people put the Traxide isolator box. The two 40amp fuses will go near by. (My Traxide SC-80 is fixed to the front of the battery box)

@ letherm. Can you see where your two transformers are located? They need to be fairly near the lights, but secure and out of the way. A picture would be great.

I am hoping Tombie will chime in here. His posts have helped me decide on these lights.

I will take some photos of my installation as I do it.

    Hi Fred.

Mine does not have transformers. I've got the 150w lights not the Nemesis. It has a 40 amp relay which is attached to the negative earth bolt near the battery. I couldn't see where the fuse was located - assume they put it in a spare slot with the other fuses - must check that out If you want pictures of the relay, wiring etc I can post them but you asked about transformers so presumed that was your need.

While I was out looking at my setup I could see a couple of things behind the grille which pops off easily enough. There is probably a spot there but I'll leave it to anyone who has one installed to better advise.

When I bought mine originally I contacted Fyrlyt and spoke to Paul who was very helpful. I reckon if you get stuck he would be able to help.

There was/were threads that I read at the time - about 16 months ago about the Fyrlyts so maybe a search might pick up something else.

    Good luck with it.

    Hello letherm and thankyou.

The Nemesis 9000 set-up is different and new since the previous threads. Each 250 watt, 24 volt light has its own connections to the battery, a separate 40 amp inline fuse and 40 amp relay and near each light there is a transformer to double the voltage. The two relays are controlled by one dash mounted switch. It is still a simple circuit, just two of everything and the transformers to accommodate.

I have just installed a pair of Nemesis on mine.

My relays are all mounted in a clip together block and sit just behind the left headlight (down the side of the windscreen washer filler pipe). They used to be mounted on the side of the engine bay just in front of the fuse box - but there is now a Traxide DBS installed and the new battery resides there.

I have mounted the 12/24V transformers under the body cross member beneath the radiator - in behind the bulbar. Can't easily get photos of this without taking the centre bash plate off the bulbar unfortunately.

I've seen Tombie's installation and it looks good - I just didn't think I'd have the room to install in the same location and couldn't find a suitable bracket to use for this.
    Cheers .........
