    Battery suggestions

Well after drowning the becm and trying to start the car for quite while then letting it sit for a few weeks, it appears my battery is on its last legs. Doesn't start as easily as it used to.

Any suggestions for a battery? I don't want to spend big bucks on a Optima or anything as I have a decent deep cycle sitting in the back as a back up if needed, but don't want to go the el-cheapo and regret it later.

I have read a 1000 cca battery is suggested although my current one was 850 cca I think ( a little smaller than the tray as well)

I've got two "Supercharge All-rounders". 760cca and 105ah. Cranks like a pearler, $180ish a pop, excellent life (coming up to 3yrs on one, two on the other)...

    Cheers

    I just put in a new Champion N70ZZ4WD, 760cca, $230.
My old battery was on it's last legs, thought I'd be proactive and save myself a breakdown!
Huge difference in how fast she turns over now, even on these cold Melbourne mornings.

I made a low voltage warning circuit so I can monitor both batteries when using it for running things when the car isn't running and it often beeps if the two batteries are isolated. So I'm sure the second batteries pulling it's weight.

So two people with 760cca batteries that say all is fine. From other reports I thought I'd have to look at closer to 1000cca batteries. Interesting. I guess my 850cca started fine.

    Battery

The batteries in these vehicles were specified to start engines in European and north American climates; about -20c. I don't think Camden gets that cold I would go with 750 to 850cca.

    cheers

Makes sense seeing the drop off in cca due to temperature.

Any idea whether I would fit a 330mm length battery in there?

I did a rough eye measurement and came up with the following limitations which are likely out with parallax errors.

320mm length, 180mm width, 200mm height with 220mm terminal height.

I had looked at the optima D31 but not convinced the cost is worth it for my application where I already have a good deep cycle sittin gin the boot for cases of emergencies.
